Sikeston offers utility services provided by the City through the Board of Municipal Utilities (BMU). Cotton Ridge Development offers necessary utilities, including water, electricity, natural gas, sewer and telephone. Offering the lowest rates in the state of Missouri, BMU operates a 235-megawatt plant with a standby generation agreement in place to meet any need. Eight deep wells are in place to supply the city and a twelve-lift station system for wastewater treatment has a capacity of 4.4 million gallons per day.
